Beaufort is conveniently accessible from Interstate 95 or from U.S. Hwy 17. It is 40 miles from Savannah GA, 40 miles from Hilton Head Island SC, and 70 miles from Charleston SC. Beaufort’s mild climate is considered temperate to semitropical with an average yearly temperature of 65 degrees. Situated on the Beaufort River, Beaufort is the second oldest city in South Carolina. Located within a marshy estuary, Beaufort is comprised of roughly 18 square miles of land and 4 square miles of water. Beaufort has a rich history that spans back hundreds of years prior to when it was founded in 1711. Nearby Parris Island was France’s first colony in the New World in 1562 and the first Scottish settlement began on Port Royal Island (now Beaufort) in 1682.
